that C. Treat Spear, the president of the Minnesota-Acacia Park Cemetery
Association and a freight agent employed by the Chicago, St. Paul,
Minneapolis & Omaha RailRoad, and his wife, Blanche I. Spear, resided at
this address. In 1972-1973, Jean Borax, a Sophomore at Macalester
College, and Dorothy Sauser, a Junior at Macalester College, both
resided at this address. Cecil Treat Spear was a World War I veteran who
resided at 931 Marshall Avenue in 1919. Jean Borax, an English teacher
at Harding High School since 1981, was a financial supporter of the
Friends of the St. Paul Public Library in 2004 and 2005 and of the
Minnesota Writing Project in 2007. Dorothy Sauser-Monnig received an MFA
in flute from University of Minnesota, was on the faculty at North Star
Elementary school in Minneapolis, is a member of St. Anne's Episcopal
Church, and is a music instructor associated with Cadenza Music. Charles
Treat Spear (1868- ,) the son of John G. A. Spear and Hulda Jane Craig
Spear, the grandson of Samuel Craig and Matilda Parish Craig, was born
in Northfield, Vermont, moved to Minnesota with his family, was educated
in public schools of St. Paul, was a railroad official, was employed by
the Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis & Omaha RailRoad after 1884,
including the agent in St. Paul, enlisted in Company "E" of the First
Regiment of the Minnesota National Guard in 1897, served in the
Philippines as a Captain of Company "E" of the 13th Minnesota Volunteer
Infantry, served under General H. W. Lawton, was recommended for
promotion for gallantry during campaign in Luzon, the Philippines,
served as a Major in the Russian Railway Service Corps to restore the
Trans-Siberian RailRoad in 1918 and 1919, married Annie Blackington, the
daughter of Willard Blackington and Julia Thomas Blackington, was a
member of the St. Paul Commercial Club, was a Mason, was a member of the
Minnesota Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution by virtue of
being the great grandson of Alexander Craig, a Second Lieutenant in the
New Hampshire Militia, was a member of the Benevolent and Protective
Order of Elks, resided at 931 Marshall Boulevard in 1907, and officed at

May 8, 1959 "Mrs. Margaret J, Spear, 74, wife of G. Aubrey Spear, director of the Greeley National Bank, died Thursday night at the Weld County Gen- rat Hospital. She had been in failing health for many years. Mrs. Spear resided at 1219 Cranford. She was born March 13, 1885 at Georgetown, the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Thomas A. Uzzell. Rev. Uzzell was known as Parson Tom. He served the People's Tabernacle in Denver for many years. Mrs. Spear was educated in the Denver public schools and was graduated from the Normal School here in 1905. She taught in Pueblo and Denver. She and Mr. Spear were married Sept. 28, 1910 in Denver by her father. They had since lived in Greeley. Mrs. Spear was a member of the First Congregational church, Chapter I of PEO and the Laliana club. Beside her husband, she is survived by a daughter and a son Mrs. Dorothy Walden of Roanoke Va., and Thomas A. Greeley, December 18, 1972: Mrs. Lou Spear Merritt, who recently had resided at the Kenton Nursing Home, died there late Sunday night. She was 93. She was born at East Bethel, VT., Aug. 16, 1879, to Mr. and Mrs. George J. Spear, Vermont pioneers, and first came to Greeley as a young girl. After the death of her husband, Thomas Merritt, she returned to Greeley and had lived here many years. She was a sister of the late G. A. Spear, prominent Greeley banker. Survivors include a brother, C. T. Spear of Minneapolis, Minn.; a nephew and a niece. Thomas A. Spear of Greeley and Mrs. W. L. (Dorothy) Walden of Roanoke, Va.; and three grandnieces, Mrs. Norman ( Judy ) Hanson of Cheyenne, Wyo., Mrs. William (Jane) Hoyman of San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. G. W. (Janet) De ? and of Boulder. June 27, 1938 "Mary Frances Foster and Tom Spear To Be Married July 5; Announcement Is Made at Pretty Luncheon Saturday Announcing the date of her marriage to Thomas A. Spear as July 6, Miss Mary Frances Foster, attractive daughter of Mrs. Marian Hold, presided over a luncheon of lovely appointments on Saturday at The Inn. The couple is to .be married at Doauo chapel of Park Congregational church, with only the- Immediate families and a few very close. Mends In attendance. Luncheon guests were seated at one long table, which was centered with Announces Wedding Date Society Calendar an exquisite pottery bowl filled with snapdragons, roses, sweetpeas, larkspur, and cornflowers. Tall green tapers in. wrought iron holders were on either side. At each cover was a pretty, frilled nosegay corsage of sweetpeas and. delphinium and attached to each was a little card bearing news of the approaching wedding. Miss Foster, popular in younger, circles, is a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Van Sickle, long time residents here. "She was graduated from Greeley high school and later attended Colorado State College of Education where she was a member of Delta Sigma Epsilon sorority. During her freshman year, she served as vice president, and was a "Miss Greeley State" candidate. She later went to California for a year, returning to be employed by the telephone company. Mr. Spear is the son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Aubrey Spear of 1219 Cranford. His family is prominent in Greeley, his father being assistant cashier of the Greeley National bank. He also was graduated from Greeley high, school and later attended Junior College at Long Beach, Calif., and Iowa State College at Ames. His fraternity is Kappa Sigma. The past three years he has been affiliated with the Weld County Garage, where he is credit manager. Present at the announcement party were Mrs. Marian Nold, Mrs. George Van .Sickle, Mrs. G. Aubrey Spear, Mrs. Robert Joyuer, and the Misses Dorothy Spear, Gloria Jones, Betty Foster, Rae Dinner, Jayne Foster, Boris Carlson, Charlotte Salberg, Barbara Byouk, Leota Dawsou, Betty June Doanei Billie Manhart, Emma Hursch of Gering, Nebr., Peggy Archibald, and Virginia Wilklns, Blanche Richards, and Eileen Lewis of Denver, and Miss Foster. Bachelor D i n n e r Saturday evening, Mr. Spear entertained at a 7:30 bachelor dinner and smoker at The Inn. Patterson, Vincent Sattley, Melvin Bedinger, Julian Dunn, Chuck Wheeler, Bus Arnhold, Roy Haidin, Barney Houtchens,, Lynn Hamnett, George Steele, Wilbur Nelson, Tom Opdyko, Tom Murphy, Lyle No- hu Mary Spear DOROTHY Dorothy Jane Spear Walden, of Roanoke, Va., died on Saturday, January 2, 2010, bringing a long and contented life to a peaceful close.Her husband, Walter Lewis Walden, a good man of strong character, died in 1966. Mrs. Walden was born in Greeley, Colo., on March 17, 1916, to George Aubrey Spear, a banker, and Margaret Uzzell Spear, a homemaker. She attended the University of Colorado at Boulder and graduated from Colorado State Teachers College (now the University of Northern Colorado) in 1938. Following graduation, she taught school at Ovid, on the Colorado plains, and at Climax, in the high Rockies. During World War II, she returned to Greeley, where she worked as the clerk of the local draft board. … CECIL Cecil Theron Spear registered for WWI in St. Paul, born Jan 29, 1893 at Greeley Colorado, a cashier for the C M. Co. supporting his mother. 1568 Summit Avenue: St. Paul The records of the 1919-1920 Minnesota World War I Soldier's Bonus Board (#19624) indicate that Cecil Theron Spear (1893- ,) a 1918 draftee and a Corporal in Company F of the 311th Engineers, who was born in Greeley, Colorado, moved to Minnesota in 1912, had blue eyes, light hair, and a light complexion, was 5' 9" tall, was a railroad worker at induction, was unemployed after the completion of service, and was unmarried, resided at this address. Cecil T. Spear born about 1893, married Myrtle Brown August 27, 1928 in Libby Montana - his parents were George J. Spear and Eva Parkhurst. Cecil and Myrtle are in Great Falls, Montana in 1940.
